Me: Star Wuerdemann (formerly Ferguson)
About the Blog:
“A Soulful Mess,” is about me and it’s about you: being a human is a amazingly divine and ridiculously messy experience. I am doing the best I can, succeeding some days and failing miserably others. And yet, it is still life, even if I failed that day.
I have always been a writer. I can’t remember a time where I didn’t think in the written word, thoughts running like a visual ticker tape in my brain. Robert Clyde Bulla tells a story of how when he was a kid, he got laughed at for saying he wanted a table for Christmas. But he wanted a table because he wanted to be a writer and a writer needs a table. “A Soulful Mess” is both my table and my Room of My Own wrapped up in one.
I am a 70’s baby, barely, and live in Baltimore, Hon. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother, all of whom I am obsessed with and live heart-breakingly far away from. I was both a redhead and quite plump for many years, both of these have had significant influence in my life. I love to cook. I love to read. I didn’t learn how to wear eye make up until I was 28 years old. That’s also when I got my first tattoo. I’m considering shifting my loyalty from bold to italics. Writers who have influenced me include Sandra Cisneros, Roald Dahl, Anne Patchett, and Sue Townsend.
